Burnt Feet

Daniel has proven to be a very tough boy. When he falls or hurts himself, the tears last only a few seconds and he moves on. Today we were out on the backyard deck. It's a hot day. He stood in one place a little too long and his poor feet got burned. It was so sad, he just stood there until I picked him up. In this picture, he's recovering on our bed watching Baby Einstein (it seems to fix most things) You can see a blister on one of his toes. He cried a good 10-15 minutes after this incident, the poor guy. Vincent started to cry too, so I had both of them in my lap while rocking in the rocking chair until they both calmed down.

Trip to L.A.

Last weekend, Vincent and I went to L.A. for a few days. We got to spend the whole weekend with Sheryl, who came down from B.C. We also got to visit with Angela, who had her baby Jacob 3 weeks earlier. After giving us a tour of our alma mater with all of it's changes, Auntie Jessica took care of Vincent while we went to the wedding of an old volleyball teammate. It was a lot of fun seeing old friends, Darcie, Sara and Debbee.
Vincent is less than two months older than little Jacob who was born a few weeks early. I'm sure next time we see him they'll be closer in size. He was so cute and tiny.
Vincent was a great travel companion. He slept great on the plane and at night. He rarely cried and he loves to smile and chat. He is such a joy to have around.
Daniel hung out with George while his mom and brother were away. They like to dress alike and they're both into riding bikes.
Daniel will be two in a couple months. He loves to be outside. More and more often he just hangs out in the backyard for longer periods. He's content finding things to occupy him like my garden. He's talking more and more. This week he's really starting to combine words like saying "bye daddy" instead of just "bye." We keep trying to get him to count to three, but it's still "two, one, two."

Big Brother, Little Brother

Our first official family picture since Vincent was born. We are seen here in front of the new house... well, George's new shed.

Little Vincent is quite the smiler. He's also very chatty, especially when the rest of the family is eating. He sits next to the table in his bouncer just smiling and cooing and joining the conversation. Then Daniel looks down at him and says "Hi Vincy." Oh it's so cute.
Daniel helped his Dad and Grandpa build the new shed. He had his own tools and everything. He's really into climbing ladders and has no hesitation climbing to the top of the tall ones.

Growing and Smiling

Vincent is two months old in this picture. We took a similar one of Daniel with the mohawk and same outfit, but he was five months old at the time. Vincent went for his 2 month check-up a couple weeks ago. He weighed in at 14 lbs. This was the 96th percentile. Yesterday he weighed 15 lbs on the bathroom scale. That's what Daniel weighed at 5 months.

Here is Daniel waking up from a good nap with some fantastic bed head.

Daniel's look in the picture is a little impish. He was just about to grab Vincent's face. (Something that's not allowed but all too often so irresistible.)

Oxymoron

Here's a little something we'll be able to use for bribery someday. The boy likes purses. If there are none available, he'll use something else, like a shopping bag. Here he's using my make-up bag. Notice the "hunk" on his pajamas.

Darian's Visit

Darian stayed at her Grandma and Grandpa's for a few days. We had lots of fun playing with her while she was in town.
I hear "wee" from the other room... Daniel is helping his little brother swing.

Minnesota

We just got back from a trip to Bemidji, MN. It's the home of Paul Bunyan and his blue ox, Babe. It's also the first city on the mighty Mississippi. Daniel is seen here next to Paul Bunyan.

On the way to Bemidji, we found a whole town that was just Daniel's size.

Swimming in the lake with his new buddy Cole.

The boys hanging out at our Minnesota apartment.

We went to the Beltrami County Fair and Daniel got to ride on the motorcycle ride with his friends Bjorn and Leif. It ended much like the ride on his dad's motorcycle, in tears. At least he got to ride more than once.

His first soda.

On Lake Bemidji at sunset. It was beautiful.

George and Daniel got frisked at the airport on the way home...no joke.

Vincent is sleeping through this entire video. We were driving from Minneapolis to Bemidji.
