The Zoo

We got a season pass to the zoo in August and this was the second time we've used it...oops. But we're going to get out of the house more frequently now that Gavin's almost done with morning naps and there are sunny days coming our way.
The tiger came right up to greet us. It's the closest I've seen one. Really cool. We got there pretty early...before it opened. So the animals weren't all worn out from annoying visitors all day yet I think.
This was also our first trip to the zoo with all three boys and just me. We did pretty good. We just had to do the diaper changes out in the open because it's a scary thing bringing all three boys into a public restroom.
The boys aren't usually allowed to go in Gavin's crib. But they were playing so nicely for so long in their room, we let it slide. They were so funny in there. The crib got recalled, so we need to send it back anyway. Why not have some fun first. They spent a good hour or so in here.

Portraits

Last weekend I took a portrait photography class. It was fun getting to hang out with other photographers (okay, other adults) and learn more about photography. I also just entered my first photo contest. My Alma mater, Biola, is having a photo contest for their magazine, so these two are what I submitted. Wish me luck.

Boston Accent

Daniel has had a Boston-like accent since he learned to talk. He doesn't pronounce his "R's". This week, that changed. Instead of saying "I Poked my coh." He now says, "I parked my car."

Auntie Kia made us an awesome Preschool Craft & Activity binder. The boys started on letter A yesterday. Vincent's begging for more, so that's what's next on our agenda for today...the letter 'B'.

Half Moon Bay

We head out to Half Moon Bay and eat lunch at Barbara's about once a year. It's a fun tradition and nice to see the ocean every so often. I miss it. The boys loved playing in the water, Vincent nearly got washed out to sea and his mother wasn't too quick to grab him, not wanting to get my new Uggs wet. George will nominate me for mother-of-the-year for that one. A wave snuck up on us, but Vincent got out without falling over as I cheered him on. When he retells the story, he keeps saying I saved him. Ha, ha.

This was Gavin's first official visit to the ocean, I think.

Veggietale Hiatus

It was all Bob & Larry, all the time for a while. Then we moved on to Curious George. I lamented the passing of another stage, having loved VeggieTales. Then Daniel asked me today: "Can we watch that cartoon with that Cucumber and that Tomato? I can't remember their names." Wow, it's been awhile, but they're back.

In other news, Vincent is now exactly the same weight as Daniel...35 lbs.

Gavin now obeys most of the time. "Don't touch that", "Close the drawer", "Stay out of the bathroom"...things like that. But most of the time, he does it with the saddest face, a lower lip that just melts me and the biggest crocodile tears you've ever seen. It's hilarious.

Terrific Two's

"I'm Wincent"
"It's a sunny day to jump over the road" -Vincent's moto song.

Vincent is two and a half. It shows. He's changed a bit from the sweet little boy who let everything roll off his back to a somewhat assertive little boy who throws a fit if a toy is taken from him. He's finding his voice.
Despite the attitude challenges, I love this age. He gets so excited about playing with simple toys. His language is entertaining and he is so sweet, constantly asking to read books and snuggle. I melt when he looks at me with his big green eyes.
Vincent has a good vocabulary, there are a few sounds he hasn't perfected yet, like the "ar" in Car, the "th" in Think, and the "oy" in Boy. So instead of saying "I think that's a big boy car" he would say "I fink dat's a big bow coh." Perfectly understandable to his mother, but visitors sometimes look at him with a blank stare. He tells me he's a "Big Beau". Before he goes to bed he needs a three minute warning: "Fwee mo' minutes". He sleeps with his Giraffe and his "frog donkey". The tell tale sign that he is two..."why?" is asked constantly. We totally skipped this stage with Daniel. But we're making up for it now. When Vincent's stomach gurggles, he says "That was my body."
