Family BBQ 09

Auntie Jessica got a new car! Her first car, a cute, black VW Cabrio. George used to have one of these in High School, an 82 VW Rabbit convertible. We drove all over in that thing and did a lot of off-roading too. The kids all really liked it.

Jody threw Kia a baby shower this weekend. It was beautifully decorated, she has such a knack for design. Kia is due with a surprise in just 3 weeks.
This is the second year we've all gotten together for a family BBQ at the end of summer. We all gather on the front steps at my parents house and watch the sunset after dinner. The neighbors that we grew up with gather from the 4 corners and we all say hello once again. The Flinders, the Russles, and the Caseys have all shared a corner with my parents since we moved there when I was 3. It was fun seeing them all again and watching a beautiful sunset with the family with kids running everywhere.
There are currently 6 grandkids on this side of the family, the seventh is due in a few short weeks. If little number seven is born before Daniel's birthday, there will be 7 grankids ages 3 and under!

Daniel had his second day of pre-school reading time today. He did it all by himself, Vincent and I read in another part of the library during his "class." I'm so proud of him.
Vincent continues to ride his razor around like a pro. He calls from the backyard "Don Yall, D O N Y A L L! Come outside!" He loves it when mom, dad or Daniel are out the riding with him.
Gavin took his first steps this week. He's taken just 2 or 3 at a time, but he's standing longer and longer thinking about it.
We had everyone together under one roof except for Nikki's husband, Derron. It's rare that we all get together at the same time anymore. Nikki and the girls came up from Fresno and Jessica came up from Biola for Kia's baby shower this weekend.
We made homemade strawberry icecream. My parents opted for the hand-crank model 30 years ago and it still works...imagine that.
