We camped off of Hwy 120 on top of the Sonora Pass the second night. There was a nice spot right next to the river. The mosquitoes enjoyed us a little too much there though. From there we drove to Twin Lakes and fished a little. It was beautiful. We also spent a couple hours in Bridgeport for their Fourth of July celebration; the town's 150th.
Gavin tried hard to keep up with the fishing and hiking, but it's so hard being a little guy.
Daniel loved fishing with his dad. They brought two home for dinner the third night. We all enjoyed the delicious trout, especially the boys.
Our favorite discovery of this trip was beautiful Virginia Lakes. It looked like we were in the Swiss Alps. Unfortunately I didn't have my wide angle lens to capture the whole scene. The two blue lakes were surrounded by steep snowy mountains.
Just up the road from Virginia Lakes, we camped off of a fire road without another soul in site, just Mono Lake to the South and Bridgeport Reservoir to the North and a cool mountain pond complete with a glacier melting into it just a few yards away. It was also just breezy enough to keep the mosquitoes away up here.
Daniel participated in our catch and release program the first day. He let the fish go and it just floated belly up for a minute. He caught again and it swam away once it got it's bearings.
